Molded JW
Sometimes it does not work...
The JW is one of many DS gliders made from EPP foam, and eager and excited to work without compensation of any kind; entirely at my own expense with not even a copy of the model as asked, the Thundertaker customer wanted it formed up to a full composite airframe. Unable to convince that the airfoil is not at all right for the project, it moved ahead to a model produced in China by submitting the CAD drawings.
Though simple and straightforward, the company had trouble producing the parts. Wings arrived warped, and the entire airframe just was not up to par. Flight was not satisfactory, again for the application of an inappropriate airfoil.
Flying wing success was fully realized though with the ‘Windfire‘ by Gary Smith. Built to multiple spans, that model is big fun on the slopes of Australia.
Download part files for the corrected version for your CNC equipment in IGES format. Other formats available on request. Custom section schedule by Peter Wick. The revised/correct section schedule will be applied to an entirely new high/very high speed model 72″ in span, posted to the same file location.
