V-Tool

Collaboration and lessons...

V-Tool is a combination of collaboration, critique and instruction for two contacts in the area I live.  It also features a unique mold/vacuum bag combination.

A core design already mapped out, the fuselage drawing was sent for critque and instruction on how to do it in far less work and more streamlined.  Same for the wing.  That was used as seed information to design something wholly new, featuring a modded section schedule from Habe Norbert and a planform shape based on the Kinetic 2 Meter adapted to that span.

Fabrication of the wing is very clever, in that only a single (upper surface) mold is used.  A machined foam core is placed into a matched female mold, and a template of heavy mylar is used to finish the lower surface.  That entire kit goes into the vacuum bag, and the results are impressive.

Performance is excellent that I know of.  Not intended for sale, this is a club kind of thing, with a T-tailed version coming.  (T-Tool)  I did get a finished copy as my fee, and for this airframe I’m configuring the flaps to 55% span.  More on that coming.
